Review of Verum by Courtney Cole (NOCTE #2)

VERUM_front

THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE.
My name is Calla Price and I’m drowning.
My new world is a dark, dark ocean and I’m being pulled under by secrets.
Can I trust anyone? I don’t know anymore.
The lies are spirals. They twist and turn, binding me with their thorns and serpentine tongues. And just when I think I have it figured out, everything is pulled out from under me.
I’m entangled in the darkness.
But the truth will set me free.
It’s just ahead of me, so close I can touch it. But even though it shines and glimmers, it has glistening fangs and I know it will shred me.
Are you scared?
I am.

Review

"Dare is beautiful, Dare is my heart, but Dare isn't a light. He's my darkness."
I just finished Verum..... I started reading Verum as soon as it popped up on my kindle at 1 am monday but only read 4 chapters and sadly had to get some sleep. then when I woke up monday at 6, I got on my fb and was hit with the BIGGEST SPOILER EVER!!
I sat there and just looked at my computer screen thinking "WTF just happened?!"to say I was pissed would be a understatement. So seeing that completely ruined it for me. (or so I thought) I read a couple of chapters yesterday but my heart just wasnt in it because of it being "ruined" for me. Today I finally said thats enough! Read the dang book! So I did...
I am destroyed. Completely freaking shattered!! Please say it isn't so. UGH!!! Bring on the tears again!!!
I am once again blew away with Courtney Cole writing ability. Even though the ending was some what ruined for me, she was still able to shock the hell out of me!! I can't freaking wait for Lux!!
5 freaking amazing stars!!

This story has you absouletly awed and spellbound from the very beginning. This book has you on the edge of your seat, reading as fast as you possible can to figure what the heck is going. Courtney Cole has you your brain all tangled up and a thousand different possibilities going thru your head, of what might be going on and then BAM!! Something totally different happened!! She's a Evil Genius and I don't know if I should love or hate her, so Ill just love her all the while I'm hating her!!

"He's a weapon, armed for obliteration. And if I'm not careful the obliteration will be my own."

About Courtney Cole

I write books.  I’ve always had a huge imagination, and so writing books just seemed like the logical job for me.  I love LOVE, so Romance is the perfect genre for me.  I love  Happily Ever Afters in my books, but I also love a good rocky journey to get there.  A difficult journey makes the destination worth it.  :)
Random fun facts about me:
  1. I collect dashboard hula-girls.
  2. I like to have my car stereo volume set at an even number.
  3. I can barely remember my natural hair color.
  4. I am terrified of buoys and birds.
  5. I love cemetery angels. Is that weird?
I grew up in rural Kansas, so yes, I am a corn-fed Kansas girl.  My husband calls me his “Sunflower” because that sounds so much better.  (You can see references of that in Dante’s Girl– Dante calls Reece his Sunflower.  Awww!)   I live in Florida now, with my real-life circus.  I have my own Prince Charming, two sons, one daughter, two cats, Nyx and Ninja, and our old grandpa dog, Milo.

Love Unspoken by Lisa De Jong (A Flawed Love Series, Book 2)
Designer: Mae I Design (Regina Wamba)

Blurb:
I lent my heart to the bad boy, and he did exactly what I expected he would. He broke it.

Everything seems perfect.

Then the past comes walking back in. I thought I was over him, but one look and I know that’s not true. We went through too much together for those feelings to completely fade away.

A heart will be broken … and it could be mine.

Review: Crashing Souls by Cynthia A. Rodriguez

 CrashingSoulsCover

Crashing Souls by Cynthia A. Rodriguez

Release Date: October 27th, 2015

Each story has a story of its own within the author. I remember the day Crashing Soulscame to me. I looked over at my husband as he stopped at a stop sign and wondered, what would happen to our love after we died? No one would remember the magic of it. Would it just die when we did?
Cynth

This created the idea that maybe we’d come back as other people and find each other again. But that was too easy. What if someone remembered? And then, Dexter came and whispered his story into my mind.
I had been finishing up Chasing the Tide and starting The Reigning Waves when I decided, with Rosemi’s encouragement, to give this story life. I can’t wait for you all to join this journey.
All my love,

Synopsis

I am darkness; what you would consider a thief amongst the living.
I’ve spent time, so much of it that it seems a trifle word to call it, in that gloom being swallowed whole by human grief and human tears.
I am the angel of death.
And all was dark until I met a man, searching for a woman.
Given a second chance to find the love of his life, whose soul was placed inside someone else after a tragic accident, a young man  finds himself taking over the life of a teenager named Dexter. But there are rules: She will not remember him and he will only have fragmented memories, not knowing anything about the life he has been placed in and barely anything about the life he once lived. He embarks on a journey to right Dex’s wrongs and find the woman whose soul belongs with his, no matter what it takes. Finding her is one thing, loving her and her self-destructive ways is another.
Artful, sharp, and compelling, Crashing Souls explores the permanent mark left behind when two souls crash together.

My Review

Must read of 2015!
"It isn't going to be easy. Love worth keeping hardly ever is."
PHENOMENAL! A masterpiece!
I finished this about a month ago now and I'm still an emotional wreck over this story.
Crashing souls isn't like anything I've read before. It's beautiful, raw and intense!
PERFECTION
The writing was out of this world amazing, you feel as if you are the characters in the story enduring all the heart ache and tribulations and it feels like you are literally being ripped apart. Its a whirlwind of raw emotions that is full of angst but damn if it doesn't it make it all the more beautiful and touching. This story is so much more than finding your soulmate and getting your happily ever after. This story show what real life is and what consequences it has on your relationship regardless if it is with your soulmate or not.
I can't even fathom how much I adore this book.
Read this book!
One the best books I have ever read!

Quotes:
"She owned my eyes. From the moment I saw her. They found purchase on any bit of her that was visible."

"I'm like a starving man, and you're feeding me fucking breadcrumbs."

"For the record, I only ever wanted Noa. Since the moment I woke up from the coma, I was looking for Noa."

New Release & Review The Affiliate (The Ascension Series Book One) by K.A. Linde

My Review:

Phenomenal!
A MUST read of 2015!
A powerful suspenseful masterpiece.
K.A. Linde knocked it out of the park, her writing ability never cease to amaze me. Her writing transports you into the story itself until your felt as if you were one of the characters. It was magically.
This story was the perfect cross of The selection and The red queen.
It was rivieting and captivating. It had me on the edge of my seat anticipating what was going to happen. I wish it never had ended, especially with a cliffhanger. I will be anxiously waiting until next year to get the next book in the series!
It's a must read if you enjoy suspense, with a twist of fantasy.

Synopsis

On the day of her Presenting, in front of the entire Byern Court, seventeen-year-old Cyrene Strohm’s lifelong plans come to fruition when she’s chosen as an Affiliate to the Queen.
Or so she thinks. When Cyrene receives a mysterious letter and an unreadable book, she finds nothing is as it seems. Thrust into a world of dangerous political intrigue and deadly magic, Cyrene’s position only grows more treacherous when she finds herself drawn to the one man she can never have…
King Edric himself.
Cyrene must decide if love is truly worth the price of freedom. Find out in this first book in USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s new Ascension series.
Excerpt
“Do you enjoy the view?” King Edric asked.
“The rains have made the gardens bloom, and it warms my heart to see it so.”
“It is good to know that the gardener approves of the work.”
Cyrene laughed lightly. “I have not gardened in a month’s time. I fear I can no longer call myself a gardener.”
She remembered when she had told the king of her interest in gardening at the last feast day almost a week ago. After that dance, Queen Kaliana added a list of plants to her assignment, forcing her to reread every page she had already dredged through for information. It had wasted two entire days.
“Perhaps I could change that,” he offered.
He directed her down the staircase and into the courtyard below lit solely by the setting sun in the distance.
Her stomach churned at the thought of him offering assistance to any of her needs. It was like what she had read in her children’s books of the tales of Leifs, and how one request would be necessitated by a much larger sacrifice. Her biggest sacrifice at the present moment was time. She wanted nothing more than to finish her work on agriculture and prove that she could get moved somewhere that involved traveling…and adventure.
“On the contrary, My King, I am fully enthralled in my Affiliate duties, and believe that gardening would only distract me from my work.”
“You cannot spare one afternoon to spend in my gardens?” His blue-gray eyes searched her face. “If you have half the green thumb you suggest, then it would be delightful to have you on the grounds.”
She swallowed. “I really have much work to accomplish before we go on Processional.”
“I could speak to the Queen and request it be lessened,” he whispered into the evening air.
“No!” It was the first time he had ever admitted to discussing her with the Queen. Hearing him admit it aloud made her voice come out strangled.
Cyrene missed her footing on the pebble path and stumbled forward a pace. Edric steadied her. He turned his body to face her in the middle of the garden, and her breath caught at the sight of him in the setting sun.
“You do not wish me to speak to the Queen?”
“I spoke out of turn. Please forgive me.”
“I cannot forgive that which I do not understand. Did the Queen somehow offend you?”
Cyrene shook her head. “I fear that the Queen does not…like me.”
Edric laughed softly, taking one of her hands in his own. “Oh Cyrene, I believe that the Queen likes no one but herself.”
Cyrene found that she, too, could laugh at his comment.
“Now, tell me what the Queen has done to make you believe that she dislikes you.”
“It’s nothing, my King.” She turned her face away from his. She couldn’t possibly tell him the real reason.
“Enough to infuriate you, which is enough for me.”
When she looked back up into his blue-gray eyes she felt that same magnetic pull between them. Somehow she had not realized how close they were standing. His hand felt warm against her bare skin. His body only a few inches away from her. His breath hot on her face. Her heart contracted in her chest, and she forced herself to respond.
“She speaks of…of your interference, as if…as if you…”
Time stretched between them, and she thought for a split second he might move even closer to her. She was rooted in place, captivated by his gaze.
“Yes?” His other hand drifted to her waist, and she was suddenly on fire.
Their breath mingled together as she murmured, “As if you favor me.”
“And do you think that?”
“I…”
“Yes?” he asked, stepping closer.
“I think you have your queen,” she breathed.
